Urban Tots Drives India's Toy Manufacturing Revolution with Large-Scale Domestic Production
India's toy manufacturing industry is witnessing rapid transformation as Urban Tots expands large-scale domestic production from its integrated facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. With advanced manufacturing technology, international safety standards, sustainable practices and a nationwide distribution network, the company is supporting India's emergence as a global toy manufacturing and export hub.
Headquartered in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, Urban Tots operates a 350,000-square-foot integrated manufacturing facility that currently employs more than 450 people. The company manufactures a diverse portfolio of toys for the domestic market, reflecting the growing capabilities of India's manufacturing sector.
The company's journey began with a simple observation by its Chairperson, Deepak Chaudhary, who noticed that the toys owned by his children were predominantly imported and carried labels from other countries. The realization underscored India's heavy dependence on imported toys and inspired him to establish Urban Tots with the objective of building a strong domestic manufacturing enterprise.
Unlike many companies that initially entered the toy business through imports, Urban Tots chose to invest directly in local manufacturing. The company's manufacturing journey formally commenced with the foundation ceremony of its production facility on August 14, 2021. Establishing large-scale production capabilities required substantial investments in advanced machinery, workforce development and technical expertise.
To strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, the company's founding team studied production technologies and factory operations in China before adapting those practices to establish a modern manufacturing ecosystem in India focused on efficiency, precision and scalability.
Today, the manufacturing facility operates with automated conveyor systems, Poka-Yoke quality mechanisms and production processes specifically designed to minimize defects while ensuring consistent product quality. All products are manufactured in compliance with internationally recognized safety standards, including EN71 and Bureau of Indian Standards certifications.
Urban Tots has also integrated sustainable and responsible manufacturing practices into its operations by focusing on reducing production waste while enhancing productivity across its manufacturing processes.
The company initially entered the market with role-play trolley products before expanding into multiple toy categories. It now manufactures ride-on toys, battery-operated vehicles including electric cars and tractors, infant products, sensory toys and educational learning kits designed to support early childhood development.
Alongside its manufacturing expansion, Urban Tots has established a nationwide distribution network consisting of thousands of dealers and retailers while building a strong presence across major online marketplaces. In addition to marketing products under its own consumer brand, the company also manufactures toys for several established companies, supplying products that reach households across India under different brand labels.
Industry observers believe that India's toy sector has entered a critical phase of growth. Increased domestic manufacturing capacity, stronger quality regulations and evolving consumer preferences are steadily transforming an industry that was once heavily dependent on imported products.
The sector's development aligns with broader changes taking place across India's manufacturing landscape, where improving infrastructure, supportive government policies and greater adoption of technology are encouraging companies to compete in international markets while serving the country's expanding domestic demand.
According to Deepak Chaudhary, India possesses the necessary strengths to emerge as a globally competitive toy manufacturing destination.
"India has every ingredient required to become a global toy manufacturing hub—entrepreneurship, engineering talent, manufacturing capability and an enormous domestic market. The next step is to build products that are recognized worldwide not because they are made in India, but because they represent quality, innovation and trust," he said.
Urban Tots' expansion reflects a broader manufacturing-led transformation within India's toy industry, where long-term investments in infrastructure, advanced technology and skilled workforce development are becoming increasingly important for sustainable growth.
As India continues strengthening its position within global supply chains, companies such as Urban Tots are contributing to the country's transition from one of the world's major toy import markets to a competitive manufacturing and export destination. Through continued investments in innovation, quality and responsible manufacturing, the company is supporting India's vision of establishing itself as a globally recognized center for toy manufacturing.
